The clutch fork, also known as the release fork, is a critical component in a manual transmission system. Its primary functions are:
Engagement/Disengagement of the Clutch:
Transmits force from the clutch release mechanism (e.g., hydraulic slave cylinder or cable) to the clutch pressure plate.
When the clutch pedal is pressed, the fork pivots and pushes the release bearing against the pressure plate's diaphragm springs, disengaging the clutch.
Transfer of Mechanical Force:
Acts as a lever to amplify the driver’s input, ensuring smooth clutch operation.
Support for the Release Bearing:
Holds and guides the release bearing (throw-out bearing) to maintain proper alignment during clutch actuation.
